Join our Dietetics & Nutrition Team as a Senior Dietitian Food Service

The SALHN Food Service Dietitians  work together to manage the Dietetics and Nutrition food service, ensuring high-quality hospital food services that improve patient care and outcomes. They oversee dietetic support staff, risk management, quality improvement, and food safety standards. Responsibilities include supervising dietetic assistants, conducting audits, and coordinating Therapeutic diets for inpatients. The role also involves direct patient care, nutrition consultations, student supervision, and contributing to teaching and state-level policy advice. The position requires operational management of diet kitchen services and collaboration with Food Service Providers, with work potentially required across 7 days during outages.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager of Dietetics and Nutrition, the duties for the role will include:

  • Oversee day-to-day management and quality of hospital Dietetics and Nutrition food services.
  • Supervise and support dietetic support staff and ensure adherence to food safety standards.
  • Provide direct patient nutrition assessment, care, and consultation within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Lead quality improvement, risk management, and contribute to policy and education in dietetics services.

About you:

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Dietitians Australia (DA).
  • Ability to lead and co-ordinate a team and foster good working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and lead change that results in improved outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in Food Service and Menu Management Systems.
  • Proven commitment to quality management, person and family centred care, and risk management.
