Southern Adelaide Local Health Network is seeking a dedicated Allied Health Assistant to join our exceptional Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative Care team. About the role:  

As an Allied Health Assistant within the Division of Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative Care, you will play a vital role in supporting our allied health professionals to deliver exceptional patient care. Your primary focus will be assisting with patient treatments and interventions designed to enhance independence and improve functional outcomes for our patients. You will be responsible for facilitating a high-quality diverse activity program for older people with Dementia where there are multiple complexities, cognitive behaviours and diverse cultural backgrounds. The program provides a mix of physical, social, cultural, education, entertainment, recreation and diversion.

This rewarding position offers the opportunity to work across multiple sites, delivering compassionate care to both acute and sub-acute geriatric patients. You will contribute directly to improving quality of life for older adults during critical stages of their healthcare journey, working alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team committed to excellence in rehabilitation, aged care, and palliative care services.

About you:  

  • Previous experience working in a health-care setting particularly with older persons and/or persons with cognitive impairment / Dementia would be advantageous
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to provide compassionate, culturally responsive care and effectively motivate patients from all backgrounds
  • Ability to work collaboratively under the guidance and mentorship of experienced Allied Health Professionals
  • Must be eligible for or be willing to undertake a Certificate 3 in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent
