About the role

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) drives high-quality, safe, and family-centred care, supporting the Nursing Service Director and leadership team. Leads a clinical portfolio, mentors staff and contributes to strategic and operational unit management.

Key duties of the role

  • Lead and support clinical teams, providing expert guidance, mentoring, and professional development
  • Deliver high-quality, safe, and person-centred care, ensuring adherence to standards, policies, and evidence-based practice
  • Coordinate operational management, including staffing, rostering, leave, performance, and workflow
  • Monitor budgets, resources, patient care outcomes, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Champion collaboration, cultural sensitivity, change initiatives, and a culture of professional excellence

Skills and Experience

  • Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia practicing certificate and post-graduate Critical Care qualification
  • Minimum 3 years post-registration experience with competence in relevant nursing/midwifery practice
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience supervising students and less experienced staff within a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of legislation, standards, quality improvement systems, and contemporary healthcare issues
