About the role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and registered RN2C Clinical Nurse to join CaFHS Torrens House in a Part time (0.84 FTE) capacity working Tuesday to Fridays inclusive, rostered typically as early or late shifts and from time to time an occasional night shift may be required. This is a 5-month contract role with potential to extend.

CaFHS Torrens House is a 9-bed residential unit located at South Terrace in Adelaide, providing support for unresolved challenges of early parenting, including feeding and settling issues to parents and their infants from birth to 12 months of age.

Staff work in a multi-disciplinary team, partnering with families to achieve their goals during their 4 days stay. Experience in breastfeeding, settling from birth to 12 months of age is essential.

Key duties of the role

  • Provide nursing services that have been consolidated by experience and/or further study. Staff at this level are developing from competent to proficient practitioners.
  • Accept accountability for own practice standards, activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced staff.
  • Your role at this level continues to be predominantly clinical in nature; however, employees are assigned appropriate portfolios. The allocation of portfolio responsibilities should be negotiated with each employee and be consistent with the career development plan for the employee as determined by their performance review/development plan.

Skills and Experience

  • Effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within the healthcare setting
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience.
  • Experience in the supervision of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses
  • Knowledge of contemporary professional nursing/midwifery and health care issues
