About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable BloodSafe Transfusion Nurse Consultant to join our dedicated team within the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN). In this rewarding role, you’ll provide expert clinical support and guidance to nursing and medical staff involved in the prescribing and administration of blood and blood components. You'll play a key part in advancing Patient Blood Management (PBM) practices, promoting the safe and efficient use of blood products through education, auditing, guideline development, and practice improvement initiatives. Your work will be underpinned by the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and the SA Health Blood Stewardship Policy Directive.

As a vital member of the State-wide BloodSafe Program Collaborative and the CALHN Patient Blood Management Priority Care Committee, your expertise will help shape local and state-wide blood management strategies. You’ll work with autonomy and confidence, contributing to the development of sustainable, high-quality transfusion practices across CALHN. About You

You are a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse or Midwife with a strong clinical foundation and a passion for improving patient outcomes through safe, evidence-based transfusion practices. Your leadership, analytical thinking, and ability to drive change make you a trusted expert and valued collaborator across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Expert Clinical Knowledge: Extensive understanding of transfusion standards, PBM principles, and NSQHS Blood Management Standard.

  • Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership, negotiation and report writing skills with the ability to foster team development and lead change.

  • Project & Education Experience: Proven ability to manage projects, implement policy, and deliver training programs to diverse clinical teams.

  • Qualifications & Experience: Registered Nurse with a minimum 3 years' experience and demonstrated competency in safe blood administration.
