Overview:

  • The Director, Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs is responsible for the management of the Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs branch to meet the key objectives of the Population Health division, including supporting implementation of the National Preventive Health Strategy 2021–2030 within Mental Health, Suicide Prevention and Alcohol and Other Drugs.
  • The position will lead the development and implementation of evidence-based practice, policies, strategies, and other initiatives to improve mental health across the South Australian population including supporting implementation of Preventive Health SA’s strategic objectives, the South Australian Public Health Act, 2011, South Australian Suicide Prevention Act 2021, Mental Health Care Act 2009, and reporting on the South Australian Alcohol and Other Drug Strategy 2025-2030 and the South Australian Suicide Prevention Plan 2023-2026.
  • The role is required to strategically engage with the whole of State Government, Non-Government sector and Local Government to lead and support the development and delivery of universal, selected, and targeted prevention and population health partnerships, systems and programs, across the life course.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
