Overview:

  • The Director, Chronic Disease Prevention is responsible for the management of the Chronic Disease Prevention branch to meet the key objectives of the Population Health division, including supporting implementation of the National Preventive Health Strategy 2021–2030 within Cancer Screening, Tobacco & e-Cigarettes, Active Places and People and Food Environments.
  • The position will lead the development and implementation of evidence-based practice, policies, strategies, and other initiatives to prevent and reduce chronic disease across the South Australian population including reporting on the South Australian Tobacco Control Strategy 2023-2027 and contributing to the National Obesity Strategy 2022-2032.
  • The role is required to strategically engage with the whole of State Government, Commonwealth Government, Non-Government sector and Local Government to lead and support the development and delivery of universal, selected, and targeted prevention and population health partnerships, systems and programs, across the life course for improved chronic disease.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and appropriate immunisation requirements.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

  • A ‘National Police Certificate’ NPC (also known as a ‘Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check’ NCCHC)  for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
