About the role

The CAMHS Clinical Nurse provides specialist mental health care to children, adolescents, and their families with complex needs. The role includes assessment, treatment, counselling, and group work, while supporting multidisciplinary teams and contributing to quality improvement and best practice care.

Key duties of the role

• Provide proficient, evidence-based mental health nursing care to clients and their families, while promoting consumer participation and ensuring culturally responsive service delivery.
• Contribute to the clinical leadership of nursing & multidisciplinary services for CAMHS to attain consistency of practice standards and local service outcomes
• Foster a positive and safe work environment, actively participate in undergraduate and postgraduate mental health nursing education, and take responsibility for ongoing professional development.
• Actively participate in quality management, quality assurance and risk management activities and ongoing improvement of services

Skills and Experience

• Registered or eligible for registration as a nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate. Must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice.
• Experience in mental health assessment and therapeutic intervention with children and adolescents
• Ability to develop care plans in collaboration with consumers, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Confident communicator who builds trust with people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds
