About the Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Acute and Community Services team as a Senior Clinician/Nurse Consultant- National Perinatal and Infant Mental Health ForWhen Navigator, where you will be responsible for:
  • Facilitating intake, triage, and screening of referrals to connect parents experiencing moderate to severe perinatal and infant mental health concerns with tailored, appropriate services.
  • Coordinating care pathways by collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, including CaFHS clinicians, Aboriginal Cultural Consultants, and community providers to ensure integrated, culturally appropriate support.
  • Providing expert guidance and clinical decision-making to facilitate timely access to the right PIMH services prioritizing client safety and wellbeing.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of local PIMH services and eligibility criteria, acting as a resource for health professionals on referral options, pathways and eligibility, i.e. COPE Directory.
  • Supporting ongoing development of the NPIMH ForWhen program by participating in practice communities, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care and contributing to continuous service improvement
     
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • For Senior Clinician-Relevant degree enabling full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • For Nurse Consultant- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience.
  • Proven ability to conduct comprehensive perinatal biopsychosocial assessments, risk assessments, and develop individualized care plans including risk management and safeguarding.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with experience working effectively in multidisciplinary teams, including Aboriginal families and communities.
  • In-depth knowledge of mental health issues related to pregnancy, birth, postnatal period, trauma-informed care, attachment theory, and social determinants impacting infant, child, and family wellbeing.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, health service standards, and public health service models, particularly within the South Australian mental health and family support systems.
