Join Our Dynamic Team as a Nurse Unit Manager – General Medical Ward

Are you a passionate and experienced nursing leader ready to take the next step in your career? We’re looking for a dedicated Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to lead our General Medical Ward, a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

As NUM, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping patient care, mentoring a skilled team, and driving clinical excellence. Our ward caters to a diverse patient population with complex medical needs, including those requiring continuous cardiac observation—making it an ideal setting for a leader who thrives on challenge, innovation, and compassionate care.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Nursing Director, duties for the role will include:

  • Provide the pivotal leadership and co-ordination of patient/client care delivery in a defined ward/unit/service/program to achieve continuity and quality of patient/client care and outcomes and efficient patient/client flow
  • Ensure the effective management of human, financial and physical assets through appropriate planning and allocation of resources to achieve agreed Division / Unit / Ward / Service and strategic plans
  • Budget preparation, monitoring and reporting and adherence to resources allocations
  • Contribute to the development of, implementation of, and monitoring of corporate policies and processes and lead in their area of expertise

About you:

  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated competence in acute care nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards
  • Proven experience in delivering high quality and safe care consistent with the National Safety and Quality Health Care Service Standards
  • Experience in computerised rostering processes 
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate
