As a Rehabilitation Medicine Registrar, you will contribute to the provision of rehabilitation and medical care to patients undergoing rehabilitation both in inpatient and ambulatory settings for a variety of conditions. You will assess the patients, analyse all clinical diagnostic data, administer relevant medical care and develop rehabilitation plans for your clients. You will provide detailed written reports and maintain up to date information in the clinical files as a record of intervention

In collaboration with patients, their significant others and an interdisciplinary team of allied health professionals, you will identify rehabilitation goals for the patients and work alongside others to achieve the identified goals. You will also provide detailed reports on patients when requested by external sources subject to appropriate authority. You will provide effective medical information to the interdisciplinary team members, patients and their significant others.

Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM) mission is to train, accredit and support medical practitioners in the management of functional loss, activity limitation and/or participation restriction arising out of illness and injury. South Australian branch of AFRM is committed to train medical, nursing and allied health professionals to work collaboratively with patients, and their families to implement rehabilitation programs using an integrated team approach. 

To be eligible for this position you must hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, hold general medical registration or be registrable with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) for general medical registration and have completed two full years postgraduate supervised training in general medical and surgical areas.

As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12 month allocation will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.

The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.

Entry requirements to Rehabilitation Medicine training program with AFRM include holding general medical registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and have completed two full years postgraduate supervised training in general medical and surgical areas.

As a rehabilitation medicine registrar you will develop skills in resolving complex clinical problems, and working effectively as a part of a team and excellent leadership and communication skills.
