About the role: 

Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role is responsible for providing clinical services of the highest possible standard to patients referred to the Pain Management Unit both in terms of individual performance and by contributing to a multidisciplinary approach to delivery of care, as well as active involvement in teaching & supervision of junior medical staff and medical students in the clinical environment. Duties for the role will include:

  • Participating in the development of clinical guidelines and protocols,
  • Attending and participating in clinical and departmental meetings,
  • Attending academic programs, in-service training sessions and conferences to maintain and enhance knowledge,
  • Ensuring patients/consumers are able to exercise their rights and responsibilities,
  • Ensuring that patients and their families are given adequate information upon which to base treatment decisions and follow-up

About you:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent,
  • Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner,
  • Acceptance into the FPMANZCA accredited training program,
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including colleagues and other professional staff,
  • Clinical experience and competence in the practice of Pain Medicine sufficient to permit the senior registrar to manage a significant patient load in a semi-autonomous manner

As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation as Advanced Trainee will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.
