About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the General Medicine team as a Nurse / Midwife Consultant (Adolescent Transition Research), where you will be responsible for:

  • Providing clinical nursing/midwifery expertise for adolescents with chronic health conditions transitioning to adult health services
  • Assisting specialty and general teams to establish structured transition pathways for adolescent patient groups
  • Developing individual transition plans for patients and evaluating the effectiveness of current transition practices
  • Educating staff to embed evidence-based transition practices within the Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN)
  • Participating in research activities to inform and enhance adolescent transition practices
  • Supporting the clinical trial of Transition Compass (TC), an intervention for transitioning adolescents and young adults
  • Providing administrative and research support to ensure clinical trial compliance with research and ethical guidelines
  • Providing nursing/midwifery care for individuals transitioning to adult services
  • Offering clinical leadership to nurses/midwives within the scope of the appointment
  • Coordinating and leading projects or programs that apply clinical expertise to improve service outcomes

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse and / or Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience.
  • Demonstrated competence in the relevant are of nursing and / or midwifery practice in accordance with the relevant standards.
  • Experience in the supervision of students, enrolled nurses and less experience registered nurse and / or midwives.
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines.
