Join our Southern Specialist Community Mental Health team as a Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Clinical Psychologist today! 

Community Mental Health services provide support to people who are experiencing a mental health crisis or who have recently been discharged from an emergency department or inpatient unit.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Team Manager, your role will provide clinical care coordination as part of the multi-disciplinary team within the Specialist Community Mental Health Service as either a Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Clinical Psychologist.

Some of your duties may involve:

  • Undertaking a clinical case load and providing individual care coordination to consumers with complex and specialised needs utilising discipline specific expertise,
  • Responding to requests to provide mental health consultation/information,
  • Initiating educational activities within the local community which raise awareness of the needs, treatment and other issues associated with mental illness,
  • Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers.

Please note: This position is multi-classed as either a Social Worker, Clinical Psychologist or Occupational Therapist and classification will be determined by qualifications and/or experience. 

About you:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with consumers, families, carers, other agencies and community services to implement Treatment and Care Plans and coordinate comprehensive service provision for consumers who have enduring and complex needs,
  • Must be highly motivated and have the ability to engage with consumers who have high service needs,
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary team environment in mental health.
  • (Social Worker) An appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers. 
  • (Clinical Psychologist) Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and general registration with the PsyBA with an endorsed area of practice in Clinical Psychology,
  • Eligible and willing to participate in AHPRA registrar program for endorsement in clinical psychology,
  • Comprehensive assessment skills (including risk) to inform a psychological case conceptualisation and a treatment plan
  • (Occupational Therapist) Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia,
  • Ability to provide occupational therapy assessments, work within a rehabilitation framework and develop and implement occupational therapy interventions for consumers within the team and area.
