The timetable will also include exposure to Consultant led subspecialty clinics  and some, but limited exposure to Ophthalmic surgery. 

About the role: 

Reporting to the HoU for Ophthalmology, some of your duties as the registrar may involve:

  • Primarily dealing with acute management of ophthalmic disease. 
  • Appropriate triaging of primary care referrals. 
  • Teaching paraclinical staff and medical students in the clinic setting.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of comprehensive clinical records which document significant patient management decisions

Please note: As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12 month allocation as Service Registrar will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.

About you:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
  • Registerable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner.
  • Clinical experience and competence in the practice of Ophthalmology as expected for level of training.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide  range of people including colleagues and other professional staff.
  • Commitment to providing a quality service to patients and their families. 
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and supervise junior medical staff. 
  • Ability to participate in continuing medical education activities.
