Overview:

The Principal Category Manager is responsible for managing sourcing and contract management activities related to a designated category to ensure value for money is realised, contracts deliver the required outcomes and risks are appropriately managed across SA Health through the procurement process.

The key outcomes for this role are:

  • Strategies are executed that enable SA Health operating through effective procurement and contract management.
  • Procurement, contract management and negotiation strategies comply with SA Public Sector policy requirements and identify control measures to effectively manage SA Health’s commercial risk.
  • High level procurement and contract management services are provided to stakeholders that facilitate value for money outcomes and the procurement of commercially sound deliverables.
  • Procured goods and services meet the business requirements of SA Health.

Desirable Requirements

  • Understanding of ICT products, services, and solutions, including hardware, software, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Expertise in procurement strategies, contract management, vendor management, and tendering processes specific to IT.
  • Skilled in negotiating ICT contracts to secure favourable terms and pricing.
  • Proficiency in analysing IT market trends and vendor offerings to make informed procurement decisions.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with IT procurement, including cybersecurity and compliance issues.
  • Proficiency in analysing procurement data and supplier performance to optimize IT procurement strategies.
  • Knowledge of relevant ICT procurement regulations and compliance requirements within the public sector.
  • Familiarity with IT procurement and contract management software, as well as general office software.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and trends in ICT to ensure the procurement strategy remains up-to-date and relevant.
  • Understanding the use of AI tools in procurement processes & leveraging AI to optimize procurement strategies, improve decision-making, and increase efficiency in IT procurement activities.
  • Ability to integrate environmental sustainability criteria into IT procurement processes, including selecting eco-friendly and energy-efficient products and services
