About the role

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Riverland Mallee Coorong Local Health Network (RMCLHN) team as a Consultant/Senior Consultant – General Paediatrician. Employment for this position will be managed through the Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN)

Key duties of the role

  • Management of high-quality, outpatient and community Paediatric General Medicine services including face to face and tele video consultations for patients in RMCLHN – including acute care, chronic multidisciplinary care, management of undifferentiated illness and development and behavioural disorders.
  • Ensuring clinical indicators are developed and met for performance within the service.
  • Establishing and maintain strong links within and external to RMCLHN and WCHN, and on a state-wide and national level to support quality patient needs and outcomes.
  • Active participation in clinical review programmes to monitor standards of practice and ensure the maintenance of quality outcomes.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
  • Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
  • Experience in the provision of Paediatric General Medicine services to clients (patients and families).
  • Knowledge of the challenges of rural and remote medical services.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a quality service to the patient.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to work with individuals and families for positive health outcomes and to foster productive working relationships both internally and externally.
