About the Role:
Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is looking for multiple Booking Officers to join the Elective Surgery and Gastroenterology teams at Lyell McEwin Health Service. What You'll Be Doing
- Managing elective surgery and gastroenterology booking lists, ensuring patients are scheduled accurately and in line with clinical priority and waiting list requirements
- Coordinating patient appointments across Lyell McEwin Hospital and Modbury Hospital as service needs require
- Maintaining accurate records using hospital-based patient administration systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Delivering high-quality customer service to patients, families, and clinical staff while upholding strict confidentiality standards at every interaction
What You'll Bring
- Demonstrated experience in a customer-facing administrative role, ideally within a health or clinical setting
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with experience in hospital-based software such as EPAS or similar systems highly regarded
- A clear understanding of patient confidentiality obligations and the sensitivity required when handling health information
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple booking portfolios
- Confident communicator who can work effectively with clinical teams, patients, and external stakeholders under pressure
- Flexibility to adapt as booking portfolio allocations shift in response to service demands across NALHN sites

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services:
NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.
Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – a general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
Mental Health Services – adult and older persons mental health services and statewide forensic mental health services, across hospital and community settings.
Watto Purrunna Aboriginal Primary Health Care Services – provides culturally responsive primary healthcare services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in-hospital and across four community sites.
Primary Health Care Services – including GP Plus sites at Elizabeth, Modbury and Gilles Plains.
