WHAT ARE WE OFFERING? 

We are offering a unique temporary full-time opportunity for an experienced nurse or midwife to take on a strategic leadership role within the Rural Support Service (RSS). You will lead and support key projects and programs that strengthen workforce capability, improve practice consistency, and enhance safe, high-quality patient outcomes, while providing expert advice across professional practice, workforce, education, and research.

Working in a collaborative environment, you will engage with advisory groups, panels and committees, and contribute to regional and state-wide policy development. This role provides a valuable opportunity to build your strategic influence and make a meaningful impact on nursing and midwifery practice across the health system.

 

WHO ARE WE? 

The RSS is a business unit in SA Health that delivers a range of enabling services, such as workforce planning and recruitment, digital health, finance, infrastructure, procurement, and clinical governance support. Our purpose is to strengthen and sustain healthcare delivery in rural and regional areas by providing consistent, efficient, and specialist support functions to the six regional local health networks (LHNs) across South Australia.  We employ around 260 people who work in 37 regional, rural and remote SA locations, or in the RSS's three Adelaide offices.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 

Do you have…

  • Proven ability to lead and manage large-scale, complex projects and programs, with strong skills in planning, implementation, risk management and evaluation within a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in nursing and midwifery professional practice, with the capacity to provide high-level advice on workforce, legislation, education, and research.
  • Strong strategic thinker with experience aligning initiatives to local, state and national priorities, and driving improvements in healthcare systems, quality, and patient outcomes.
  • Highly developed leadership and influencing skills, with the capability to engage stakeholders, contribute to advisory groups, and lead change across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in quality improvement, data analysis and performance monitoring, including developing KPIs, using information systems, and applying research and evidence to inform decision-making and practice.
  • Knowledge of vaccination requirements and immunisation as applied to regional healthcare contexts.

HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE? 

You will………. 

  • Lead, coordinate and deliver complex nursing and midwifery projects and programs, ensuring effective planning, implementation, evaluation and alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on professional practice, workforce, education and policy to support evidence-based decision-making and improved outcomes.
  • Drive quality improvement and consistency in practice by developing, implementing and evaluating policies, protocols and performance measures.
  • Influence and collaborate with key stakeholders, including advisory groups and multidisciplinary teams, to support system-wide improvements and change initiatives.
  • Utilise data, research and information systems to monitor performance, inform strategy and strengthen workforce capability and service delivery.
