About the role

Clinical Nurse — Deliver care to young parents and children at a Metropolitan Youth Health community site. Support grant-funded Young Parents programs, building protective factors and reducing intergenerational health impacts. Negotiate and manage a professional portfolio aligned to your development plan.

Key duties of the role

  • Deliver person-centred clinical nursing care and case management to vulnerable young people in a trauma-informed youth health setting, monitoring care plans and applying therapeutic interventions in line with the Metropolitan Youth Health Clinical Operational Manual
  • Support the Nurse Unit Manager across clinical, management, and education activities, contributing to protocols, change management, and organisation-wide service improvement projects
  • Teach and mentor students and less experienced staff, acting as a clinical resource to foster a reflective, learning-focused team culture
  • Conduct clinical and service delivery audits, integrating evidence and practice to achieve agreed client care outcomes and support evaluative research
  • Lead nursing care delivery within the multidisciplinary team, promoting continuity of care and undertaking specific portfolio responsibilities aligned to your development plan

Skills and Experience

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with a minimum of three years’ full-time equivalent post-registration clinical experience.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills with individuals, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience working collaboratively with Aboriginal Clinical Health Practitioners to support Aboriginal consumer health outcomes
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, mandatory notification obligations, social determinants of health for young people, and quality improvement in community and primary healthcare settings
