About the role

The Social Worker supports families with complex needs through assessment, counselling, and advocacy. The Social Worker works in multidisciplinary teams to build resilience, strengthen parenting and problem-solving skills, and deliver culturally appropriate, family-focused interventions across community and residential settings.

Key duties of the role

  • Deliver high-quality social work services to families with complex needs.
  • Deliver therapeutic and trauma informed case management.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and interventions utilising evidence based social work models.
  • Carry out interventions including, counselling, behavioural change practice, and family interventions.
  • Support and advocate for families.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and regional stakeholders.

Skills and Experience

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • Experience in working with families utilising current research and knowledge about attachment, infant mental health and brain development and families who are experiencing psychosocial need.
  • Experience evaluating complex cases and utilising high-level counselling and/or case management practice skills.
  • Knowledge of family intervention principles, methodologies and techniques.
  • Ability to undertake psychosocial assessment of families with young children.

Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Experience in child protection, family services and/or interventions that support vulnerable families would be an advantage
  • Experience working therapeutically from an attachment framework
