About the Role

As the Head of Modality – MRI, you will lead the MRI Imaging Service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, innovative medical imaging in line with departmental, hospital and SA Medical Imaging policies and professional guidelines. Reporting to the Chief Radiographer, you will provide operational management of MRI services, oversee all MRI equipment and accessories, and support the smooth running of the service both during and after hours. You will perform a wide range of MRI procedures with professional independence, liaise with Radiologists to optimise imaging outcomes, and maintain robust safety plans, zones, and education for staff working in and around the MRI environment, whilst maintaining a patient-centric approach.

This senior leadership role also encompasses the development and promotion of research and educational programs for the MRI team, staff management and mentoring, and contribution to strategic planning for the Medical Imaging department. You will work collaboratively with other Heads of Modalities and the Chief Radiographer to coordinate imaging services, establish service agreements, advise internal and external stakeholders, monitor performance through key indicators, and ensure the department meets all accreditation and regulatory standards. About You

To excel in this role, you will hold the required educational and professional qualifications for MRI, including licensure under the Radiation Protection and Control Act SA, a degree or equivalent in Diagnostic Radiography, registration with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia, and Level 1 MRI Accreditation with the Australian Institute of Radiography. You are an experienced, strategic leader with a strong background in MRI service delivery, team management, and quality improvement, capable of driving innovation while ensuring safe, high-quality patient care.

  • Qualified & Accredited MRI Professional – Holds all relevant licensure, registration and Level 1 MRI accreditation; experienced in MRI.

  • Strategic & Operational Leader – Demonstrated skills in managing multidisciplinary teams, leading change, strategic planning, policy development, and implementing protocols and procedures.

  • Quality & Compliance Focused – Proven experience in accreditation, continuous improvement, risk management, and clinical governance in MRI services.

  • Collaborative & People-Oriented – Skilled in staff development, rostering, counselling, appraisal processes and delivering training programs to build capacity and maintain high standards.
