About the role

The Associate Nurse Educator supports Level 3 Nurse Educators and Nurse Unit Managers by coordinating and delivering clinical education for surgical ward nurses, fostering professional development, supporting staff capability, leading education initiatives, and promoting multidisciplinary, patient-centred care.

Key duties of the role

  • Support Level 3 Nurse Educator and Nurse Unit Managers to deliver high-quality patient care through effective clinical education
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver professional development and in-service education for surgical units
  • Facilitate learning opportunities and provide targeted education support across wards, units, or portfolios
  • Demonstrate developing leadership, coordination, and management skills within a multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain accountability for own practice and delegated activities, supporting and developing less experienced staff
  • Collaborate with health professionals, patients, families, and agencies, and lead education projects or initiatives

Skills and Experience

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience with demonstrated competence in paediatric and/or surgical nursing.
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
  • Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure and prioritise workloads.
