    About the role: 

    Reporting to the Co-Director, Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative Care, some of your duties for the role will include:

    • Assist in the provision of client and family consultation, assessment, referral and follow-up on a range of social, emotional and health issues
    • Contributing to effective consultation with staff, wider health teams and the community to gain support and commitment for culturally appropriate health care programs
    • Work as part of multidisciplinary team to coordinate the continuity of care and maximise client engagement
    • Participating in appropriate training programs and networking opportunities, including national conferences, workshops and seminars as required
    • Assist with developing and implementing culturally appropriate rehabilitation programs in SALHN
    • Working alongside divisional Aboriginal Health Worker and the Karpa Ngarrattendi SALHN Team

    About you:

    • The applicant must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
    • Experience in Aboriginal identity/culture and working with Aboriginal people, children, families and communities
    • Demonstrated ability to advocate on behalf of Aboriginal clients, negotiate and resolve conflict
    • Experience in basic computing skills, including email and word processing
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner with Aboriginal individuals, families and communities
    • Demonstrate a strong commitment to a high-quality care and continuing quality improvement

    This is a single vacancy, with two possible appointment classifications. The successful applicants will be appointed in the position appropriate to their skills, qualifications, and experience.

    Please note that this position is multi-classed as either a ASO4 or OPS4 (Aboriginal Health Practitioner) and classification will be determined by qualifications and experience.
