Weekend Occupational Therapist - Inpatient Geriatrics

These ongoing part-time positions offer the opportunity to work as part of a team, ensuring optimal care and outcomes by providing comprehensive assessment and intervention to patients requiring specialist geriatric evaluation, assessment and care. 

About the role: 

Reporting to the Director of Occupational Therapy, some of your duties for the role will include:

  • Assessing clients’ occupational abilities, problems and needs using a variety of formal and informal assessments
  • Providing education / advice to patients and / or relatives about level of function and ongoing management
  • Contributing to behaviour support plans 
  • Supervision of Allied Health Assistants in the delivery of diversional therapy programs 

About you:

  • Experience in the supervision of Occupational Therapy staff and therapy assistants
  • High level interpersonal, negotiating, counselling and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate with clients, other professional staff and community agencies both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake assessment and intervention with clients with a variety of disorders and disabilities including management of complex cases, particularly those with cognitive impairment
  • Proven experience in delivering high quality and safe care consistent with the National Safety and Quality Health Care Service Standards
