WHAT ARE WE OFFERING?
Our Direct Care Worker Cadetship Program is a unique opportunity for people who are passionate about supporting their community and building a meaningful career in aged care. Through this program, you’ll gain real, paid on-the-job experience while being fully supported to complete a CHC33021 - Certificate III in Individual Support. You’ll learn alongside experienced professionals, develop practical skills from day one, and grow your confidence as you make a positive impact in the lives of older people.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
Should you be offered a position on our program, you will study CHC33021 - Certificate III in Individual Support – Ageing through an approved Registered Training Organisation selected by us. We will offer flexible learning options to ensure that you can achieve your study goals, with additional support provided through the training provider and one of our Educators. You will be fully supported to learn on the job with a team of health care staff to assist you to settle in and provide you guidance as you learn.
Your working arrangements will consist of 4 days at work, with one working day every fortnight that will be specifically allocated for study and completing workplace assessments. Your usual workdays will also be dedicated to practical on-the-job learning within the workplace.
HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE?
Whilst you consolidate your learning via participation in vocational training, you will:
- Provide high-quality, respectful care and support to residents across diverse aged care settings
- Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to deliver personalised care that improves wellbeing
- Maintain confidentiality and build trusting relationships with residents and their families
WHERE WILL YOU WORK
The Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network runs from Kangaroo Island to Eudunda, wrapping all the way around our metropolitan areas. We have 11 public hospitals and 6 aged care facilities located at Mount Pleasant, Kapunda, Gumeracha, Eudunda, Strathalbyn and Kangaroo Island – we will work with you on your preferences for location. WHAT WILL WE OFFER YOU IN RETURN?

- Qualification: (CHC33021) Certificate III in Individual Support – Ageing and/or Disability through our approved Registered Training Organisation
- You will work four days per week as a Direct Care Worker, learning both on and off the job (rostered over 7 days, 7.6 hours per day)
- The training will be scheduled over a 12-15 month period, and there will be potential for further opportunities following successful completion of the program
The Recruitment Process – How will you be Selected
Over the next 12 months we will do two intakes for this program, Program 1 commences in May 2026, and Program 2 commences in November 2026. We will review applications that have been submitted for the first intake approximately 8 weeks prior to the program commencing.
If your application is part complete, we will email you prior to closing off the applications, to remind you to complete. However, we always encourage you to complete your application as soon as you can.
