Overview:

The Director Aboriginal Health Partners and Engagements is responsible for leading partnerships, formal governance, engagement and community communications required to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal South Australians.

The role supports the Chief Aboriginal Health Officer in driving the strategic vision for SA Health and influences improvements to initiatives for the implementation of enhanced programs in accordance with SA government requirements, state and national policy directions in line with commitments to the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and the SA Aboriginal Health Care Framework. 

The role supports the Chief Aboriginal Health Officer in effective Aboriginal leadership across SA Health and will work collaboratively with Local Health Networks and Attached Agencies to shape and strengthen system‐wide Aboriginal health proposals and related programs that improve health outcomes.

The role oversees the development and delivery of Aboriginal health engagement and partnerships across SA Health and drives system intelligence that will ensure effective and improved commissioning, performance, evaluation, and evidence‐based outcomes.

The role represents SA Health stakeholders and Aboriginal representatives to build trust to develop new ways of working that increases partnership capability and capacity across the system.

SA Health and makes effective contributions at state and national level on Aboriginal health policy matters to ensure the delivery of improved and culturally safe and responsive policies and services to the South Australian Aboriginal peoples.

The Director Aboriginal Health Partnerships and Engagements leads the Aboriginal Health Unit’s Partnerships and Shared Decision-making Team and Engagements and Community Communications Team and works collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the alignment of strategic priorities and approaches to advance the Aboriginal health agenda.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

  • A ‘National Police Certificate’ NPC (also known as a ‘Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check’ NCCHC)  for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
