About the Role:

As a Mental Health Nurse Consultant, you will provide clinical nursing expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe mental health care. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will deliver expert nursing care, provide clinical leadership to other nurses, and coordinate projects and programs that enhance consumer and service outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering expert clinical mental health nursing care.
  • Providing clinical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to nurses.
  • Coordinating and leading projects and programs to improve mental health services.
  • Supporting recovery-focused approaches across community, acute, and rehabilitation settings.
  • Accepting accountability for your practice, professional advice, and for addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Holds a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing (or equivalent).
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years post registration experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the mental health nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in the supervision and leadership of multidisciplinary staff, student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses and/or midwives.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal consumers.
