About the Role:

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Geriatric Outreach Service (GOS).

This position offers the opportunity to provide specialised occupational therapy input to wards, units and departments to facilitate comprehensive assessment, therapeutic input and discharge coordination for eligible aged patients, as part of the Geriatric Outreach Service. 

Working with the broader nursing, medical, allied health treating team and the GOS team, the GOS OT will facilitate early identification of aged consumers who would benefit from comprehensive care planning inclusive of behaviour management, mobility and sensory modulation programs. They will have high level knowledge and experience in aged / dementia / behaviours of concern and build effective working relationships with hospital teams, relevant community agencies, non-government organisations, aged care sector and the Department of Health and Wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • coordinate strategies, priorities and work standards, to ensure a best practice approach to support comprehensive assessments / management and discharge for aged patients in the inpatient setting
  • provide leadership, therapeutic input and clinical advice to allied health, medical and nursing staff in the management of aged consumers presenting with dementia / delirium /behaviours of concern
  • responsible for training, management, supervision and mentoring of junior staff and students
  • work collaboratively with healthcare teams and community services

To be eligible for this position, you must hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapy with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
