About the role

The York and Northern Local Health Network (YNLHN) pharmacy team have recently expanded to provide clinical pharmacy and quality use of medicine (QUM) services to all sites in the YNLHN. In addition, the YNLHN are increasing pharmacy support to QUM activities such as support to Drug and Therapeutic Committee and Medication Safety.  The positions can be based in either Port Pirie, Wallaroo or Clare, with the majority of the team being based in Port Pirie. Flexible work arrangements can be considered. 

As a Senior Pharmacist, you will play a vital role in leading the organisation, management, and daily operations of your designated pharmacy area. You will deliver a high-level, comprehensive range of pharmacy services, exercising independent and autonomous judgement in providing medicines information and therapeutic advice to patients, medical and nursing staff, and other health professionals. Guided by hospital policies, procedures, and professional standards, you will ensure safe, effective, and responsive pharmacy practice.

This position is key to optimising patient outcomes by supporting the quality use of medicines in a safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective manner. You will implement strategies that improve pharmaceutical care, while working collaboratively with the wider healthcare team to achieve excellence in service delivery. About You

You are a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist with a strong commitment to leadership and patient care. To excel in this role, you will bring:

  • A Bachelor of Pharmacy, registration (or eligibility) with the Pharmacy Board of Australia, and extensive hospital pharmacy experience.

  • Proven leadership, supervisory, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to guide, educate, and support professional and non-professional staff.

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and analytical abilities, with experience working effectively in multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

  • Comprehensive professional knowledge of pharmacy practice, standards, and codes, with a focus on safe, cost-effective, and high-quality patient outcomes.
