About the Role

As an Associate Nurse Unit Manager, you will provide nursing and/or midwifery services across a variety of healthcare settings. This role requires you to draw on your consolidated experience and, if applicable, further studies, to develop from a competent to a proficient practitioner. You will accept accountability for your practice standards and the activities delegated to others, while also guiding and developing less experienced staff.

In this role, you will support the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager (MUM/NUM) or equivalent in leading the nursing and midwifery team. You will ensure continuity and consistency of care in collaboration with other AN/MUMs and the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager or equivalent. You will also assist with the implementation of practice changes and improvements in the unit/service. Additionally, you will support the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager or equivalent in managing ward/unit/service responsibilities such as performance management, recruitment, staffing, leave management, rostering, work allocation, attendance management, and financial planning and monitoring.

What We're Looking For:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience or currently classified as a Clinical Nurse/Midwife.
  • Experience in the use of computer packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.
  • Experience in the supervision of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
