Make Your Mark in Neurosurgery - Senior Registrar Position

Seeking an exceptional neurosurgeon for a rewarding Senior Registrar (Fellow) position at the renowned SALHN Flinders Medical Centre. About the role: 

Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role is responsible in ongoing evaluation of the Neurosurgery Service provided to the community, including being involved in the process of implementing strategies in conjunction with Department of Health to streamline services including waiting list initiatives to reduce waiting times for elective surgery and outpatient consultations. Will play a major role supervising junior medical staff in operating theatres and outpatient clinics. Duties for the role will include:

  • Required to work with limited or no direction and exercise a high level of professional judgement and clinical competence,
  • Be involved in co-ordinating the academic services in neurosurgery and ensure the highest possible standard of teaching and research within the Department, 
  • Providing appropriate direction and supervision to resident medical officers and interns,
  • Acting as a role model and mentor for medical students, resident medical officers and interns

About you:

  • Completion of Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor or Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent,
  • A commitment to providing a quality service to patients and their families,
  • Competent level of surgical experience/operating at the level required for a fellowship position in both Cranial and Spinal Neurosurgery,
    Completion of Post Graduate training equivalent to FRACS training in Neurosurgery

As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation as Senior Registrar/Fellow will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities. 

This is a single vacancy, with two possible appointment classifications. The successful applicants will be appointed in the position appropriate to their skills, qualifications, and experience.
