Palliative Services Nurse Consultant: Providing Care and Dignity

As a Palliative Services Nurse Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in providing exceptional palliative care services to patients and their families. About the role: 

Reporting to the Southern Adelaide Palliative Services (SAPS) Community Manager & RAP Nursing Director, this role is responsible for providing compassionate and comprehensive palliative care services to patients and their families, ensuring their needs are met with the utmost dignity and support. Duties for the role will include:

  • Provide direct, expert clinical nursing/midwifery care, select and implement different therapeutic interventions, provide individual case management to a defined population of patients/clients and evaluate progress,
  • Implement and co-ordinate within span of control, processes for quality improvement and continuity within corporate risk management and nursing/midwifery professional practice frameworks,
  • Contribute expert nursing/midwifery assessment and advice to local clinical teams to achieve integrated nursing/midwifery care within a risk management framework.

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience,
  • Demonstrated competence in palliative care nursing practice in accordance with the relevant palliative care standards – Palliative Care Australia,
  • Experience in the supervision of students, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses and or midwives.
