As a Medical Records Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate and confidential patient records. Your attention to detail and organisational skills will ensure the seamless flow of information to healthcare professionals. This full-time opportunity allows you to contribute directly to delivering exceptional patient care within SALHN.

About the role: 

The Medical Record Officer reports to the Assistant Manager, Medical Record Department for provision of accurate and timely record services to all departments and wards. Responsibilities include collation, creation, provision, maintenance, culling, retrieval, storage, tracking and transportation of records. Duties for the role will include:

  • Ensuring accurate and timely filing, retrieval and delivery of medical records, filing of loose documents and entering data into a computerised Patient Administration and medical record/scanning systems,
  • Responding to customers and clients of the Medical Record Service in a positive manner is critical in achieving the outcomes of the unit,
  • Ensuring quality assurance of documents within a timely manner to support Coding/Casemix funding,
  • Ensuring site compliance with DOH Data capture standards and other policies and procedures

About you:

  • Sound communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with consumers, staff, external agencies and members of the public,
  • High level of interpersonal skills and incorporating conflict and aggressive behaviour management skills,
  • Ability to work independently, as part of team and to function in and promote a multi-disciplinary team approach,
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles of confidentiality and information security in a health setting,
  • Understanding of high-quality customer service
