Safeguarding Healthcare Facilities: Fire Safety and Security Coordinator Needed at SALHN

As the Fire Safety and Security Coordinator, you will spearhead disaster resilience by effectively coordinating and managing fire safety, security, and emergency response training across all SALHN sites. Responsible for the Repatriation Health Precinct and associated facilities, you will develop and implement crucial policies, procedures, and business continuity plans to ensure legislative compliance and operational readiness. Your critical duties encompass conducting inspections, audits, training programs, and administrative tasks that contribute to delivering exceptional fire safety, security, and emergency response services.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Director of the Disaster Resilience Unit SALHN, some of your duties as the Fire Safety and Security Coordinator may involve: 

  • Assisting with the establishment of systems that enables the collection, analysis and reporting of data that contributes to the effective and safe management of fire safety, security and emergency responses.
  • Conducting theory and practical training sessions relating to fire safety, and emergency response management (including emergency response and emergency control teams) for staff, contractors, contracted staff, students and volunteers, including demonstration and training in the use of portable fire- fighting equipment.
  • Being an active participant on Disaster Resilience Committees including participating in exercises and initiatives conducted by these committees.

About you:

  • Experience in the management and co-ordination of fire safety, security and/or emergency response projects and activities.
  • Experience in providing an advisory and consultancy service to staff, management and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in use of PC based computer applications, particularly MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience in the development, delivery, presentation and evaluation of training packages and programs. Experience in development and maintenance of Learning Management Systems.
