This position is responsible for: completing in a timely and thorough manner, the installation, repair, maintenance, servicing and management of voice, paging and data communications equipment and other electronic equipment associated with the SA Ambulance Service.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and repair communication equipment:
- Ensure communication equipment such as fleet radios, GRN pagers, MDTs, AVL, GPS equipment, mobile and satellite telephones, and hospital radio consoles are serviceable and maintained according to manufacturers' and SA Ambulance specifications.
- Assess and rectify faults in communication equipment in a timely manner.

Conduct vehicle installations and inspections:
- Assist with vehicle installations as required.
- Conduct vehicle installation inspections as per SAAS specifications and requirements, completing appropriate documentation.

Install and maintain equipment in SA Ambulance buildings:
- Carry out installation and maintenance of equipment in SA Ambulance buildings to professional standards.
- Design, build, and document minor in-house projects.

Manage equipment inventory and stock:
- Ensure spare equipment is maintained and de-installed equipment is checked, updated, and returned to stock for reuse.
- Maintain adequate stock levels of portable equipment batteries, electronic components, and consumables.
- Maintain and calibrate test equipment according to manufacturers' specifications.

Record and report equipment data:
- Maintain accurate records of equipment databases, network transactions, and equipment sent off-site for repair.
- Maintain records of telephone moves and changes, and produce monthly telephone call accounting reports.
- Generate ad-hoc telephone reporting as required.

Ensure compliance with policies and procedures:
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with confidentiality and privacy policies.
- Recognize that all intellectual property created during employment remains the property of SAAS.
- Use SAAS equipment and property in accordance with policies, secure and maintain them during employment, and return upon cessation of employment.
