We’re looking for professionals to join us as we open a new, state-of-the-art Mental Health Rehabilitation Service (MHRS) at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH).

About the Role

Are you passionate about creating high-quality, nutritious meals that make a real difference in people’s lives? We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented WHA5 Cook to join our Food Services team on a 7-day rotating roster. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the safe preparation and cooking of a wide range of food items, ensuring all meals meet the dietary requirements of our diverse customer base. You’ll follow written and verbal instructions, adhere to standard recipes, and strictly comply with all Safe Food Australia Standards. As a vital team member, you'll collaborate closely with other Food Services staff and supervisors, navigating key challenges such as maintaining strict food safety protocols, ensuring hygiene at every stage, and documenting temperature checks during cooking, cooling, and reheating processes. About You
To thrive in this role, you'll bring a combination of professional qualifications, practical experience, and a strong commitment to food safety and service excellence. Your ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities will be key to your success in this dynamic kitchen environment.

  • You hold a recognised trade certificate in commercial cookery or have trade-equivalent skills gained through extensive in-service training and/or specialised experience.
  • You have a solid understanding of Safe Food Australia Standards, along with experience in large-scale catering, stock rotation, and recipe development.
  • You’re highly organised, able to prioritise workloads within tight timeframes, and work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • You possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and engage respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.
