About the Role:

SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) is seeking a motivated and customer-focused HR Officer to provide HR services and information to employees and leaders across SA Ambulance Service. This role presents an opportunity to support the dedicated and highly valued staff of SA Ambulance who undertake the vital work of caring for the South Australian community in times of need, contributing to an organisation that makes a meaningful difference every day.

Working within a small, supportive team, you will deliver efficient, high-quality customer support and transactional HR services in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.

As an HR Officer, you will provide a broad range of administrative and transactional HR services, helping ensure our employees are supported throughout their employment journey.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing advice and support to employees and leaders on employment conditions, leave entitlements and HR-related matters
  • Generating employment contracts, letters and employment documentation
  • Coordinating employee onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Processing changes to employee conditions and employment records
  • Working collaboratively with Shared Services SA to investigate and resolve escalated payroll matters
  • Maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems
  • Delivering responsive, professional and empathetic customer service across a diverse workforce
    Contributing to a positive team environment and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

You are a highly organised and detail-oriented professional, who enjoys helping others and takes pride in delivering quality service.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in HR administration and/or payroll within a medium to large organisation
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills, including empathy, professionalism and a solutions-focused approach
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute positively within a small team.

Experience working within the public sector, healthcare, or a complex industrial environment will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
