About the role
As a Technical Officer in Anatomical Pathology, you will play an important part in supporting high-quality diagnostic services by contributing to the preparation and processing of histological specimens. Working with care and precision, you will assist with embedding, sectioning, special stains on paraffin-embedded tissue and routine equipment maintenance. Your work will directly support accurate and timely diagnoses, helping clinicians deliver the best possible care for patients.

In this varied and hands-on role, you will work on a rotational basis across the Main Laboratory, Cut-Up Laboratory and Immunocytochemistry Laboratory, giving you the opportunity to broaden your skills and experience in a collaborative, supportive environment. About You
You’re a motivated and capable technical professional who brings strong foundational knowledge, excellent hands-on skills and a commitment to high-quality laboratory practice. With the required qualifications and experience in histopathology, you’re ready to contribute confidently to a fast-paced Anatomical Pathology environment.

  • Relevant technical qualifications, from TGO-0 entry standards through to Diploma/Advanced Diploma or degree-level requirements aligned with NPAAC guidelines.

  • Proven histology capability, including tissue processing, sectioning and the use of immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridisation and related techniques.

  • Strong technical, organisational and problem-solving skills, including manual dexterity, meeting deadlines, using initiative and working effectively both independently and within a team.

  • Sound knowledge of laboratory quality standards, including ISO and NATA requirements, with the ability to use computers, equipment and software confidently in daily practice.
