We are looking for reliable and motivated Assistant in Nursing casual staff to join our Nursing/Midwifery team at Whyalla Hospital!

Whyalla Hospital

Whyalla Hospital and Health Services is a large regional hospital comprising of 75 beds including flex beds and a designated High Dependency Unit. The hospital provides a wide range of services, including emergency, medical and surgical, maternity, rehabilitation, mental health, and outpatients. Whyalla Hospital’s Cancer Resource Centre is one of the largest in regional South Australia. It includes six chemotherapy chairs, outpatient care and counselling services, reducing the need to travel outside of the region for care. It is also, one of three stroke services in regional SA, providing specialised treatment for suitable stroke patients 24/7, supported by metropolitan stroke units. Our staff work in close partnership with community health services and Aboriginal health providers, to ensure that optimum care is delivered to all areas of the community. About the Role:

As an Assistant in Nursing, you will support Registered and Enrolled Nurses in providing quality care to patients across a range of clinical settings. You’ll be responsible for delivering essential care tasks and assisting with daily activities, helping to ensure a safe, comfortable, and dignified experience for patients. This is a rewarding opportunity to work as a valued member of the healthcare team, where your contributions make a meaningful difference every day.

 

About You:

  • Be enrolled as a student in an undergraduate program in nursing or midwifery (can state year of program e.g. 3rd year) and have completed any training required by the employer relevant to the safe and competent performance of work at this level; OR
  • Be employed on the basis that the person is, or will be, undertaking a course approved by the Registration Authority for the preparation of Enrolled Nurses; OR
  • Hold a Certificate III or IV in one of the following health related disciplines:
    • Basic Health Care;
    • Aged Care;
    • Health Services Assistance: (Qualifications to include elective units recommended for AIN Acute care);
    • Home and Community Care;
    • Individual Support Work;
    • Or such other nationally recognised courses approved within the healthcare setting by full agreement of DHA and the ANMF Insert essential qualification/s
  • Experience, within the boundaries of their education and skill preparation, in the provision of nursing/midwifery care in the healthcare setting in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.

Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances)
