Join our Orthopaedic Surgery Unit

Deliver quality, effective and efficient clinical outcomes by providing care to orthopaedic patients with in both the in-patient setting and out-patient orthopaedic clinic.

About the role: 

This is a single vacancy, with two possible appointment classifications. The successful applicant(s) will be appointed in the position appropriate to their skills, qualifications, and experience.

Reporting to the Advanced Nursing Director, this role is integral to the delivery of high-level nursing services within Orthopaedics.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Providing comprehensive assessment of health status including history and physical examination.
  • Clinical management of patients across the lifespan, paediatric to older adult, with a musculoskeletal complaint.
  • Initiation and interpretation of diagnostic pathology and/or radiology.
  • Providing ongoing education and support to nurses caring for Orthopaedic patients across the age spectrum.
  • Initiating and prescribing interventional therapies, medications and use of health appliances or equipment and admission and discharge from services.

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate with the notation of Nurse Practitioner.
  • To be successfully appointed at RN4 level, you must possess a Masters in Nurse Practitioner qualifications relevant to Orthopaedic Nursing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an autonomous practitioner and/or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
  • Demonstrated ability in the facilitation of change management.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, innovation and creativity which can be applied to the Health setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate/initiate and or facilitate high quality research.
